📡 Eagle Console
Web-based command information management system for AFN Eagle stations. Accessible from any browser — no installation required.
Navigate to your station's URL to get started:
https://{stationcode}.prep.dx1.dev
What's in the console
| Tool | Purpose |
| Daily Show Prep | Curated news, content, and show notes for your live broadcast. |
| CI Readers | View active Command Information readers in priority order during your show. Mark each one read after you air it. |
| Reader Admin Portal | Add, edit, and delete readers. Manage your station's client list. |
| Analytics | Track how often client messages have been conveyed on the airwaves. |
NOTE — AFN Headquarters Strategic Comms Directorate (SCD) may insert readers directly into your queue. These are categorized as AFN Global and appear alongside your station-generated content. Treat them as mandatory Command Information in priority order.
📰 Daily Show Prep /today
Shared resource produced by SCD and published each broadcast day. Contains curated news headlines, feature content, and other material relevant to live AFN Eagle shows worldwide.
How to use it
| # | Action | Details |
| 1 | Open the console | Navigate to your station URL and click Daily Show Prep. |
| 2 | New tab opens | The page opens at prep.dx1.dev/today, always resolving to the current day's content. |
| 3 | Use during your show | Refer to it as needed during your live broadcast. The page is read-only — no logins or edits required. |
NOTE — Daily Show Prep content is the same for all 25 AFN Eagle stations. It is not station-specific. Individual station content lives in CI Readers.
🎙️ CI Readers /announcements
Command Information Readers are the short read-on-air announcements that DJs deliver during live shows on behalf of installation clients — chapel, legal, MWR, housing, and so on. This view is designed for use during a live broadcast.
How to use it during a live show
| # | Action | Details |
| 1 | Open Readers | Click CI Readers from your station console. The list loads in priority order — oldest-read items appear first. |
| 2 | Open a reader | Click any headline to expand the full text, client name, and category. |
| 3 | Read it on air | Deliver the reader during your show. |
| 4 | Mark as Read | Hit the MARK AS READ button immediately after airing it. This timestamps the read and moves the item down in the queue. |
| 5 | Repeat | Work through as many readers as time allows. Unread items remain at the top of the queue for the next show. |
Reader categories
Local CI
Station-specific CI content created locally.
Regional CI
Content distributed across AFN Europe or AFN Pacific stations by regional AFN leaders.
AFN Global
Priority hihg-level content inserted by the AFN HQ Strategic Comms Directorate.
NOTE — You cannot edit or delete readers from this view. All content changes are made in the Reader Admin Portal.
⚙️ Reader Admin Portal /admin/add
Where you manage the station's reader database. Use it before or after a show — not during a live broadcast. The portal header displays your station name so you always know which station you're managing.
Adding a new reader
| # | Action | Details |
| 1 | Open Admin Portal | Click Reader Admin Portal from the console. |
| 2 | Fill in the form | Enter a headline (the title read on air), the full reader text, select the appropriate client, and set the reader active. New readers are automatically assigned to the Local CI category. |
| 3 | Save | Click SAVE TO DATABASE. The reader immediately appears in the CI Readers queue for your station. |
Editing a reader
| # | Action | Details |
| 1 | Find the reader | Scroll to Database Management below the form. Locate the reader by headline. |
| 2 | Edit | Click the Edit button. The form pre-fills with the existing content. |
| 3 | Make changes | Update any fields as needed. |
| 4 | Save | Click UPDATE READER to save. Changes are immediately live. |
Deleting a reader
| # | Action | Details |
| 1 | Find the reader | In Database Management, locate the reader. |
| 2 | Delete | Click the Delete button and confirm the prompt. This action cannot be undone. |
Managing clients
Clients are the installation organizations that sponsor readers (e.g., Legal, Chapel, MWR, AAFES/NEX). Each station's client list is independent.
| # | Action | Details |
| 1 | Open Manage Clients | In the Admin Portal, click the Manage Clients button next to the Database Management heading. |
| 2 | Add a client | Type the client name in the New client name field and click Add (or press Enter). |
| 3 | Rename a client | Double-click any client name in the list, type the new name, then press Enter or click away to save. |
| 4 | Remove a client | Click the trash icon next to a client name and confirm. Note: deleting a client does not delete readers already assigned to it. |
NOTE — Client changes only affect your station. Navy stations use NEX instead of AAFES. If your client list does not match your installation's actual organizations, contact your station's Eagle Console administrator.
📊 Analytics /admin/reports
Gives your station a record of how many times each client's messages have been conveyed on the airwaves — useful for reporting to installation leadership and demonstrating AFN's community impact.
How to use it
| # | Action | Details |
| 1 | Open Analytics | Click the Analytics tile from the station console. |
| 2 | Review the data | The page shows each reader's title, client, category, total read count, and the date/time it was last read. |
| 3 | Export (optional) | Use the export function to download a CSV report for record-keeping or station leadership briefings. |
What the data means
| Field | Meaning |
| Total Reads | How many times a specific client message was aired during the reporting period. |
| Last Read | The date and time the reader was most recently delivered on air. |
| Never Read | A zero count means the reader has been in the queue but not yet marked as read on air. |
NOTE — Analytics data is cumulative and station-specific. Only reads recorded by DJs using the MARK AS READ button are counted. Readers that expire or are deleted retain their read history.
